Sandal House Wins Top Award
The prestigious West Yorkshire Building Control Awards were held at Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford on the 12th June.
The event, to recognise and acknowledge quality buildings across the country was organised by a team of Building Surveyors representing Leeds, Wakefield, Calderdale, Kirklees and Bradford Authorities.
In the category of new dwellings under 10 units the new bespoke detached house on Woodthorpe Lane in Sandal was announced from the gold envelope (just like the ‘Oscars’) as the winner.
Phil Deacon (Calderdale MBC) applauded the development and commented ‘an outstanding detached house with great attention to detail’. |

The project was designed by Martin Walsh Associates (Dewsbury) and built by CD Construction (Keighley).Craig Dyson of CD Construction said ‘the company was delighted to have been nominated for the LABC Quality Awards but absolutely over the moon to have won’.
Runners up in this category were Seddon Homes (Cheshire) and Accent Group (Baildon).
A spokesman for Architectural Practice Martin Walsh Associates said ‘after vehement opposition from local residents during the planning process, I hope receiving this award now proves that a beautiful new house has been created in Sandal’. The winners of the categories go through to a national final.
This year’s event was sponsored by Yorkshire Water, YBS Insulations, Ten Alps Publishing, noise.co.uk and Barbour. All money raised on the night goes to Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
